Mimaki has introduced its Ink Saving technology as a practical way for print providers to reduce ink consumption, helping businesses manage costs while responding to growing sustainability expectations.
Ink is one of the largest ongoing expenses in print production. Mimaki’s Ink Saving feature addresses this by automatically adjusting ink density and colour settings during printing.
Users can choose from five ink reduction levels, offering savings from around 10% up to approximately 50%, depending on the application and quality requirements.
The technology is built directly into Mimaki’s RasterLink7 RIP software, allowing operators to apply ink saving settings without changing their existing workflow. Once selected, the feature runs automatically, making it suitable for high-volume and fast-turnaround production environments.
Print and More owner Markus Jürgensen uses the technology on a Mimaki CJV200-130. “We usually work at level 3,” he says. “It gives us around 30% ink reduction with no visible impact on quality.”
In addition to lowering running costs, reduced ink usage means fewer cartridges are consumed and disposed of, supporting more environmentally responsible day-to-day production. Combined with Mimaki’s BS4 solvent inks and Hybrid Services’ cartridge recycling scheme, the Ink Saving technology offers print businesses a straightforward way to improve efficiency while maintaining the standards customers expect.
