GS UK increases machine installations in Scotland

GS UK continues to increase its embroidery machine installations in Scotland with its latest sale to Kirkcudbright company Mugshots which is a subsidiary business of Douglas Swan & Sons. GS UK’s Scottish Sales manager, Keith Mansfield commented: “I have watched a number of smaller Scottish family businesses flourish and grow this year, and Mugshots is one of them.”

Mugshots began in 2007 as a retail outlet for other goods produced using sign making software, which allowed materials to be cut for T shirt printing and personalised garments. Mugshots worked closely with a local company which supplied embroidered goods and when the proprietor of that business passed away, the embroidery software and Brother embroidery machine were purchased. The demand for embroidered goods has increased steadily and increasing sales of embroidered workwear and schoolwear saw the need for a second machine to be purchased in 2010 when a Brother PR 600 machine was added to the growing list of equipment. In 2014 a further increase in demand for embroidery has now resulted in the purchase the company’s third machine a Brother PR655.

Mr Mansfield added: “Having myself and our machine engineer – James McGuire, permanently based in Scotland ensures that Scottish customers can have peace of mind regarding GS UK’s after sales service and back up response to any problems that may arise. I believe this factor along with the high quality embroidery machines, direct to garment printers and laser cutters we can provide is responsible for the surge in capital investments being made in Scotland this year.”
