The promotional industry is known for its innovation, and increasingly that talent is being channelled into finding and developing products which safeguard the future of our planet too.

That was the underlying theme at Leeds United’s famous Elland Road stadium as suppliers and distributors came together for the second Green & Sustainable Promo Show, on June 11.

The show gave everyone present a chance to share about the ever-increasing demand for greener products, and how the industry is rising to the challenge.

Among the local visitors were Jess Potter, account executive, and Meg Horrocks, senior account executive at Infinity Inc. Ms Potter said: “It’s nice to be able to put forward a product where you’ve got a sustainable option – you can show customers how nice these products really are.”

Ms Horrocks added: “To be honest, it’s getting to be the case that more and more customers are just going for the eco options anyway.”

Another distributor which has seen a big shift towards eco-friendly options has been Pro-Ad, whose managing director, Carlo Nardini said: “It’s been a really rapid change, particularly since Covid, during which suppliers had time to develop more products to fit with the clients we’re after.”

Suppliers attending the show also confirmed the growing demand for products with detailed and provable eco credentials.

Alexander Daniels, account manager UK and Ireland at midocean, said: “People are asking more about the actual materials in the items, how they’re used and end-of-life story as well.”

John Barrett, regional manager UK and Ireland at PF Concept, added: “We’re adding a sustainable option to all our best-selling products, and when the sustainable option reaches optimum sales turnover, we’ll be getting rid of the original ones. So, by 2030, our whole collection will have a sustainable message.”
