As end-user demand for eco-focused products continues apace, The Pen Warehouse has added three new sustainable products to its popular eco-friendly promotional writing instrument range. Distributors now have an even wider choice of natural material promotional pens and pencils to support their customers seeking to promote their eco-conscious credentials.
New for 2019, the hand-machined bamboo Contour Bamboo and Garland Bamboo ballpens have been introduced alongside the Supersaver WE pencil, as the first-choice eco-friendly promotional writing instruments. All three products are made from at least 70% sustainable material.
Bamboo is a sustainable perennial evergreen flowering plant and although it looks, feels and behaves like wood, bamboo belongs to the grass family. New bamboo shoots can grow at staggering rates and an entire growth period can be completed in just 30 days. Harvesting occurs between three to five years after which the bamboo plant regrows. This can be contrasted with wood where tree maturity rates are measured in decades and no regrowth occurs once the tree is felled.
Its abundance, low cost and eco credentials makes therefore bamboo the natural sustainable material of choice for flooring and many other applications, including pen barrels.
The Contour Bamboo and Garland Bamboo ballpens are based on the industry’s most popular promotional pens, but swap their plastic barrels for hand-machined bamboo. The pen barrels are made from compressed strand-woven Mao Bamboo fibres that have been mixed with resin and pressed under extreme pressure into planks. These planks are cut into long strips of square section and this forms the raw material from with the pen barrels are machined.
As a natural and sustainable alternative to plastic pens, both bamboo ballpens feature a large branding print area, popular Contour or Garland shape and smart chrome finish. The bamboo used by The Pen Warehouse is cut from plantations specifically grown for harvesting. No wild bamboo is ever used and provides complete peace of mind that the company’s bamboo products are entirely sustainable.
The Supersaver WE pencil, meanwhile, is made from recycled plastic but has the appearance of a wooden pencil.
