Eco uniform

David Luke’s reputation as the number one supplier for eco uniforms allowed them to successfully manufacture their one millionth Eco-Blazer in late 2016.

This milestone supports the growing trend for recycled products and reflects how schools, parents and retailers are embracing the reality that school uniform can be manufactured from recycled materials.

Its eco uniform concept began in 2010 and has since grown to a range which includes jackets, trousers, skirts, sweatshirts and polo shirts. All products contain part or total polyester made from non-biodegradable plastic drinking bottles, with the average number of bottles used per garment ranging from two to 16. Used in place of crude oil in the manufacturing process, David Luke has so far prevented 20 million plastic bottles from going to landfill or into our oceans.

David Luke believes encouraging manufacturers to use recycled materials in its production process is a no brainer, not only has it the huge environmental benefit of reducing waste, but the process of producing recycled polyester uses less energy and reduces C02 emissions. Its commitment to using recycled polyester led the company to make the decision that it would no longer offer a non-eco alternative of the garments within its eco uniform range.
