The Schoolwear Show prepares to mark 20th show

This year The Schoolwear Show celebrates its 20th birthday, having been founded by five of the leading companies supplying the schoolwear industry namely, William Turner, David Luke, Rowlinson, Gymphlex and Banner. The directors of these businesses continue to organise the show today and are very supportive of the Schoolwear Association, the voice of the industry.

Under their ownership, the show has established itself as an important date in the industry’s calendar as suppliers show existing ranges, launch their new products and set their prices for the following year.

You can now register online to visit the show. When you visit the website the organisers suggest you take a good look at the exhibitor profiles before your visit, you can also do searches by product/ supplier to ensure you make the most of your time at the show. Please note all visitors must register to gain free entry to the show. If you have not pre-registered you will be charged a £10 entry fee per person.

Back to school

It has become a great focal point for retailers and suppliers to review the previous back to school season and discuss future plans and opportunities. It also presents the chance to network and socialise at post show events.

This year the organisers have increased the size of the coffee lounge which proved a great area for attendees to take a break and enjoy complementary refreshments while remaining in the hall. There is also an excellent complementary hot lunch provided every day in the comfortable on-site buyers restaurant, along with free coffee and biscuits in the show’s coffee lounge all day.

The venue which is at AIS, The Cranmore Park Conference & Event Centre, Cranmore Avenue, Shirley, Solihull, is the ideal location with good access from the M6, M5 and M42, Birmingham airport and rail networks. There is also free parking! There are a number of good hotels in the area with competitive rates for show visitors.

Returning and new exhibitors

This year sees most exhibitors from last year returning together with new companies showing for the first time; including Innovation Schoolwear, Labfax, Lorna Lowe, Optimum Sports and Your Embroidery Designs, in addition to the regular names that you will know.

The show hosts a selection of top suppliers of daywear and sportswear. With the changes of supply and currency on one hand and the opening of more academies and schools changing status on the other, it has never been so important in the history of the industry to make sure you are up to date with what is going on the in the market.

20th birthday

There are two social events to celebrate the 20th birthday. On Sunday, October 15 The Schoolwear Show is supporting a spectacular dinner dance event ‘Strictly Schoolwear’ which is being hosted by the Schoolwear Association at the Village Hotel Solihull, and then on Monday, October 16 the founders will be hosting a ‘Wine Down’. Both of these will be memorable and enjoyable events and should not be missed.

The show’s opening hours are Sunday, October 15 and Monday, October 16 9.30am to 5.00pm and 9.30am to 4.00pm on Tuesday, October 17.
