Orn is now a carbon neutral business

As part of Orn Clothing’s long-term commitment towards becoming truly sustainable, the company has recently become a Carbon Neutral Business.

Orn has offset 300 tonnes of CO2 that was created in the business operation in the following ways:

• 100 tonnes has been offset on energy efficient cook stoves in India
  This project involves providing improved cooking stoves to socially deprived communities in India. These more efficient stoves reduce indoor air pollution which is much better for the health of family members, specifically the women and each stove will reduce emissions by approximately 1.46 tonnes of CO2 each year.
• 100 tonnes has been offset on energising solar power in India
  This project supports the implementation and installation of five grid connected renewable Solar Energy Power Plants in India. In total the renewable solar panels are expected to reduce emissions by around 850,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.
• 100 tonnes has been offset on Sonawade Small Hydro Power Project
  Mahati Hydro Power Projects, has built a small hydro power project of 4.0 MW (2×2 MW) capacity near villages Sonawade and Chandoli in Sangli District of Maharashtra, India. In the absence of the project activity, the equivalent power generation would have taken place from the fossil fuel heavy NEWNE Region Gird. The project is expected to save around 17,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
