AMANN Group opens new sustainable and state-of-the art production site in India

The new production plant in Ranipet, India

AMANN Group has opened its first production plant in Ranipet, India, marking the addition of the most sustainable facility in the group’s portfolio.

It is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to protect the environment. In Ranipet, AMANN will produce sewing and embroidery threads of the highest quality for leather and apparel applications.

Peter Morgalla, chairman of AMANN India: said: “We are very proud to put this plant into operation today. We have closed the gap and are now able to offer our customers a comprehensive network of sales offices, delivery options and short lead times throughout Asia. Moreover, we will also provide technical advisory services for our customers to exploit the full potential of our products.”

The investment into its new production site reflects on AMANN’s serious commitment towards the environment. The latest production technologies reduce the amount of wastewater to a minimum.

By using Zero Liquid Discarge (ZDL), all extracted water remains in a closed cycle system. Only 9% of fresh water has to be replenished due to evaporation.

Energy demand is mostly covered by a comprehensive photovoltaic system, additional demand is supplied by a nearby wind and solar park. The boiler for steam production – important for the dyeing process of the threads – operates with biomass.

L-R: Manosh Kumar, project director AMANN India, Peter Morgalla, CEO AMANN Group and chairman of AMANN India, Michaela Küchler, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of India, Chennai, Wolfgang Findeis, CFO AMANN Group, Sanjeev Grewal, regional business director South West Asia and Middle East and managing director AMANN India, cut the ribbon at the grand opening

AMANN has implemented in the new production plant appropriate working conditions for employees, which will be audited and certified according to Indian Regulations and German Production Standards.

Sanjeev Grewal, regional business director South West Asia and Middle East and managing director AMANN India, added: “Success is always the result of a trustful collaboration. Our global brands and Indian customers are the key to our success. We are very grateful for our long-term business relationships which form the foundation for our today’s role in the Indian sewing thread industry as quality and innovation leader.”

The site occupies 32,000sq m and will employ 200 people. AMANN has operated in India since 2007 with sales offices in Chennai, Bangalore and Gurgaon.
