New WMS system delivering benefits for Blue Max Banner

Back Cover Warehouse 2Clothing supplier, Blue Max Banner, has reported major improvements to customer service levels since the installation of the new PrimaNet ERP fully integrated warehouse management system.

The system, which required an investment of more than £200,000 is now fully up and running and has already delivered significant improvements across many areas of the business, the company says.

Angela Brettell, Business Systems Manager at BMB and responsible for the implementation of the new system, says: “We can now manage stock levels much more accurately so that the right goods are available at the right time for our customers.  The WMS advanced RF scanning-in module really speeds up the goods in process allowing us to receive in, and therefore ship out, goods more quickly and more efficiently to our customers.

“The slick RF picking and forward picking and replenishment management modules allow for speedy shipping and fast replenishment of stock so the warehouse is prepared for each days busy picking schedule.”

A new Stock Planning module, also developed in the latest .Net technology, will enable improved forecasting by using techniques such as ‘what-if’ analysis and automatic creation of purchase orders on a highly visual panel based screen.

The status of customer orders has been greatly improved with an all-encompassing .Net wholesale order entry and enquiry screen.  This is simple and easy to follow so that any BMB employee can view the data they need in an instant and communicate it to the customer.

Adds Angela: “We have improved our next day delivery promise to 99.5%. The WMS is fully integrated to the order entry system allowing orders to be allocated and sent for picking immediately. It has also been designed to integrate with our couriers, DPD, which emails the customers automatically to provide dispatch information so customers know when to expect their deliveries.”

Managing Director, Nigel Plenderleith, added: “We have spent the past two years, absolutely dedicated to our customer service promise.  The Back To School Period is the real testing time when we can ship up to 35,000 garments per day.  We are right in the middle of this busy period and are fulfilling orders successfully and with much greater efficiency and accuracy.  We’re really delighted that the new system is now starting to pay off and reap tangible rewards for our loyal customers.”
