However, ask any swimmer what a T-bag is and they’ll tell you it’s a garment, worn poolside over their swimsuits when they get out of the water. In fact, the T-bag top gets its name from the airtex mesh fabric used in combination with breathable polyester to make a T shirt style worn by swimmers to keep warm between races or training sessions in the water. Mesh is an ideal fabric for swimmers as it dries quickly and doesn’t cling to the wet swimming costume underneath. The fabric is suitable for vinyl, transfer or screen printing.
T-bag tops are also widely used by swimming teachers who spend a lot of time in the pool. A standard cotton T shirt would stick to the body and feel very heavy and uncomfortable and, unlike the cotton T shirt, the mesh and polyester fabrics don’t fade with the chlorine and continued immersion in water.
