Corporate knitwear can come in many guises – stock styles or bespoke designer-led knitwear. Rannerdale works with both aspects.
Rannerdale is run by Mike Carden and Ian Pollard, who have worked in the knitwear industry for over 30 years, including for corporatewear, schoolwear, cricket sweaters and regimental jumpers.
For corporate knitwear Mike and Ian work in association with Flamingo Apparel Textiles of Leicester.
Mike says: “Manufacturing primarily in Eastern Europe gives us good prices for high quality products, and also relatively low minimum order levels for bespoke styles. That means we can work quite easily with designers. We also make to order in standard styles in larger numbers for contracts involving V-neck sweaters or cardigans. Generally, these are also made in Eastern Europe, but now there is an opportunity to take 100% acrylic and cotton-acrylic styles to India for manufacturing.”
Rannerdale’s partner in corporate knitwear, Flamingo Apparel, also operates a stock service of replacements for Balmoral Knitwear’s former styles, from before Balmoral Knitwear went into liquidation in early 2018. These are the WAVN pullovers plus matching slipovers and cardigans in 50% merino wool 50% acrylic and SAVN sweaters in 100% acrylic.
Mike adds: “We have noticed a definite upturn in corporate knitwear enquiries and orders in the last few months. That has included designer styles in corporate colours, as well as standard styles in our high-quality merino wool/ acrylic yarn. Long may it continue.”
