Virus Inks introduces Rethink Black

Rethink Black is made with a deep carbon negative pigment from organic waste

Rethink Black from Virus Inks is a ready for use ink made with a deep carbon negative pigment from organic waste.

Virus Rethink Black helps the garment decoration industry to start considering a ‘use and reuse’ model where we don’t see waste as something to dispose of, but as a precious raw material for another use.

Rethink Black is the new eco-sustainable black ink born from Virus Inks’ partnership with Bioforcetech producing a deep carbon negative pigment named OurCarbon coming from diverted organic waste, originally destined for disposal.

One of the materials which can be replaced in the formulation of the ink is carbon black, a pigment that is largely used in many inks and dyes to achieve black colour and its shades.

Carbon black is a very pollutant item made by burning fossil fuels and collecting the soot that forms in the kiln. The production of carbon black generates more than three tons of CO2e for every one ton of material made.

Together with Virus Inks’ partner, by diverting organic waste, transforming it by using carbon negative high technological systems producing more electricity that what they consume and reusing it during the manufacturing process of Rethink Black, 13 tons of C02e emissions for each ton of pigment involved in the process (LCA and third-party certifications available) can be prevented.

Rethink Black is an excellent black ink of great colour saturation that ensures the best performances in terms of productivity and printing quality comparable with a regular black inks. It’s 100% safe thanks to the high tight-bones molecular restructuring that occurs in the process and complies with the most severe MRSL (RSL test report available).

Rethink Black is very easy to print and has a very good durability on a wide range of fabrics and materials such as nylon, synthetic and recycled materials, eco-leather, PET, suede, packaging, cardboard, automotive, footwear and fashion accessories, etc.

Virus Inks is the only manufacturer offering this ink technology on the global market.
