AS Colour ranks highly in the 2021 Ethical Fashion Report

Ethical Fashion Report AS Colour ranks highly in the 2021 Ethical Fashion ReportAS Colour has joined brands such as Nike, Puma and Patagonia in receiving an A grade in the 2021 Ethical Fashion Report.

98 companies, representing 420 brands, were comprehensively surveyed across 18 different facets of their supply chains broadly covering: policies and governance, tracing and risk, supplier relationships and human rights monitoring, worker empowerment and environmental sustainability. Each company received a grade from A+ to F based on the evidence made available either publicly or directly to the Ethical Fashion Report research team.

AS Colour received an overall grade of A.

One partnership of AS Colour’s that was highlighted in the report, was the brand’s relationship with Reemi – a non-profit organisation that works to prioritise women’s health in the garment industry. Together, they provide health education and innovative, culturally appropriate, self-sterilising menstrual solutions to female garment workers in two of AS Colour’s factories.

Shanne Pritchard, production and compliance manager, AS Colour, said: ”Being graded can be a nerve-wracking experience for businesses, but we found it a very positive exercise. There is definitely a lot of work that goes into our involvement, but throughout the process, you get to highlight and look back on, the policies or work, you constantly chip away at. Through this process you gain a fresh perspective of their importance, while also seeing the areas we fall short in.

“We chose to engage with the Ethical Fashion Guide, as we believe companies have a responsibility to minimise their footprint and use their power to make the future of their industry better. The EFG provides a level of accountability that aids brands responsibility. It’s also important to us that we track whether the work we are doing, is meeting the needs of our industry, and this report gives us a space to do that.”
