
Fairtrade has recently released its 2023 annual report, with the disclosure of one of the areas being of focus in 2025 being to continue to explore ways of generating more sales for producers and deepening impact. The report outlines the company’s plan to develop services which support companies and producers to make progress on sustainability goals and its publishing of its first-of-its-kind Living Wage Reference Prices for four banana producing countries, including: Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Peru.
Statistics covered in the report include 56 externally funded projects being active in 2023, 950+ Fairtrade coffee and cocoa cooperatives now being able to access deforestation risk monitoring through Satelligence partnership, and Fairtrade ambassadors and other experts speaking at 15 sessions at COP28. Additionally, the Fairtrade Child Labour and Forced Labour Prevention and Remediation Programme was launched with €450K

In other news, this year, Fairtrade is celebrating 30 years since the first Fairtrade certified products hit supermarket shelves in the UK. Behind Fairtrade, more than two million farmers and workers from 58 countries have been working towards suppling chain partners with brands of tea, coffee and chocolate. According to the company, through its building of a community of millions, Fairtrade farmers have managed to secure a fairer price for what they grow and workers have been able to improve their living standards.
