King’s Lynn-based Listawood Promotional Products has called in the administrators, putting more than 70 jobs at risk at the site.
Ben Peterson and Lee Causer of BDO were appointed joint administrators of the company on June 3.
It is believed that Listawood’s problems stemmed from the opening of a manufacturing facility in Poland in 2022, which took too long before it was up and running, coupled with the UK’s departure from the European Union.
A Dutch-language promo information source indicated that Netherlands-headquartered PF Concept, expressed interest in acquiring Listawood but the takeover failed in December.
In a statement on LinkedIn, Mark Thorpe, UK sales director, said: “After a little time getting over the shock of the closure of Listawood, I realised that I had not thanked you all for your support over the last 10 years.
“To all our customers it has been great dealing with you all, we have had some interesting situations to contend with over the years!
“To my colleagues it has been a pleasure working with you all. The hard work, effort and determination to do the best in often very difficult circumstances has been amazing.
“Who knows what the next week weeks will bring but if I stay in the crazy world of promo I look forward to catching up with you again.”
At one point, Listawood was considered one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of drinkware. One of its more innovative developments was DuraGlaze, a revolutionary dishwasher-proof coating that significantly enhanced the durability of merchandise.
