New York-based Eastman Kodak and Resolute DTG have partnered to manufacture Kodak’s DTG inks in the UK.

Codenamed Brexink, the negotiations between Kodak and Resolute DTG have been on going for almost a year. As soon as it was clear the UK was destined to leave the EU, Resolute’s managing director, Colin Marsh, set to work on securing a manufacturing deal, to safeguard pricing on a high quality product for the UK DTG textile industry that could not be affected by leaving the EU.

Resolute’s Brexink project brings previously unavailable, Kodak high quality water-based pigmented inks to the UK. The manufacturing contract allows a competitive price point to be maintained and more importantly a stable supply for the growing UK and European DTG industry.

The inks will be produced by Resolute’s manufacturing partner, Mexar Inkjet Solutions. The specialist inkjet development company will use its expertise to produce the high-quality Kodak DTG inks on British soil. The product will be available for a range of print heads with the new ‘Formulation E’ being first to market in 2019. Ricoh, Kyocera and other formulations are scheduled to roll out through 2020.

The inks will be available to Resolute’s UK customers first through its existing online platform www.resoluteink.co.uk and garment supplier Ralawise. Post Brexit Resolute will continue to supply its EU client base directly and hope to continue its current next day delivery service into most mainland European countries.

Colin Marsh, Resolute’s managing director, said: “Regardless of the Brexit negotiations we will continue to supply all existing products and aim to keep prices as keen as possible. This exclusive partnership offers the full suite of Kodak high quality products including DTG inks, cleaning solutions, pre-treatments and spot colours for our OEM customers, at a stable price with no fear of supply issues caused by Brexit.

“The product branding will be under our current trade mark, Resolute Ink and carry a specially designed ‘Powered by Kodak ink technology’ logo for authenticity once launched. Confidential testing has been ongoing for the past few months; we are delighted with the performance and stability of these high-quality inks and its associated products.”
