Result celebrates 25 years leading the way

David Sanders-Smith founded Result Clothing 25 years ago

David Sanders-Smith, managing director of one of the industry’s most trusted brands in Europe, explains Result’s continuing success.

This year Result Clothing will celebrate 25 years as the largest outerwear supplier to the corporate, promotional and workwear markets.

I founded the business in 1995 to provide the decoration, promotions and uniform industry with good quality outerwear, headwear and accessories from stock. I am in joined in the business by my daughter Sara, and as a family-run firm we now have a loyal following. We continue to innovate and refresh our range to attract new trade users, uniform buyers and retail outlets.

A quarter of a century ago, I used my then 20-year reputation and experience in garment manufacturing to create and lead a small team to design, produce, stock and distribute 10 products harvested from this archive of bespoke patterns. We then commenced trading with three distributors.

Strength to strength

In 25 years, Result has gone from strength to strength, growing into, what we consider to be the garment decorator’s brand of choice for premium outdoor clothing. We have a reputation as one of the industry’s most trusted brand in Europe.

Now treble the size, we have expanded our range to over 7,000 SKUs across four brands and 350 unique styles. We hold stock in the UK ready for immediate despatch using a superior logistics network through to all major European distributors.

Boasting a comprehensive selection of dynamic outerwear from micro-weight to heavyweight performance, urban to corporate, core value to technical, in sizes spanning junior age 2 to adult 5XL, we are known within the industry for producing high quality, high perceived value product with our design prowess growing alongside our expertise.

Key to our continuing success has been our ability to anticipate changes within the industry, keep up with trends and, most importantly, listen to our customers, predicting their wants and needs. That, and delivering pioneering, performance clothing at outstanding value. By developing new products every season and offering our ever-growing customer base new and updated styles in a wealth of colours and sizes, we have continued to stay relevant in a competitive environment.

Developing new styles

When developing new styles, the use of performance fabrics is always key and decoration access of great importance. Our personable customer service, electronic ordering, massive stock capability, superior logistics network and future trend predictions are renowned.

As part of our continuing evolution, over the years we have introduced a collection of sub brands, which respond to customer requests and market trends.

Result Headwear incorporates a balanced mix of vibrant colours and sizes, innovative textures and eye-catching styles making a high-quality addition to any corporate, work wear, promotions or leisure activity.

2010 saw the launch of SPIRO, our activewear addition. SPIRO Activewear fills the gap in the sports industry for a stock range of co-ordinated team wear. Blending the latest performance fabrics and cutting-edge technology with designs that meet the rigorous requirements of the active wearer, SPIRO supplies the fitness, corporate sport and promotional markets with quality fashionable activewear garments.

In 2012 we devised the Core Value collection to supply low cost neutral branded promotional wear in support of our worldwide distributor network and within 12 months it was adopted as ‘everyone’s favourite budget friendly range’.

Having seen the rising trend for dedicated workwear that not only delivers on performance but also on style, in 2014 we created Work-Guard and Safe-Guard, a comprehensive range of products that provide dependable properties using performance fabrics for comfort and rugged durability with built-in features for the professional tradesperson. Work-Guard products are available in spectrum colours that enhance the image of any professional workforce and are ready-to-brand, making them ideal for corporatewear.

After 20 years of consistent growth, in 2015 we moved our warehousing facilities to a new larger distribution centre in Beccles, Suffolk to give us 228,000sq ft of space from which to operate our expanding business. All stock is now held at the 14.5acre expansion-ready site, which can easily accommodate further business growth.

As well as creating high quality garments, we our recognised for our brand marketing and product information. By keeping our photography fresh, our brochures continually updated with industry relevant information and producing creative promotional campaigns, we continue to keep the industry updated with latest developments.

For 2020, we will continue to innovate, incorporating clean and recycled elements into new garments and packaging, looking forward to sharing more details about this with the industry within the year.
