Print and embroidery specialist Involution has welcomed Leeds Arts University graduate Daniel Jefferies as a pre-press apprentice, marking the company’s 60th hire.

Mr Jefferies has joined the business through the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) apprenticeship programme, having developed an interest in print during his university studies.

After struggling to secure industry opportunities due to a lack of experience, he decided to pursue an apprenticeship to gain practical skills.

The appointment comes as Involution continues to grow, following its acquisition of the Print.Inc. brand in September 2025. The company is also supporting local manufacturing careers through its sponsorship of the Leeds Manufacturing Festival.

Alex Gale, senior designer at Involution, said: “The value of apprenticeships is underrated, and good working people might slip through the cracks.”

Matt Child of the BPIF highlighted the importance of apprenticeships in developing the industry’s future workforce, particularly as print becomes increasingly technical and diverse.

Involution said the appointment supports its commitment to developing local talent and passing specialist skills on to the next generation, as it targets further growth in 2027.
