Mimaki’s new range of small format LED UV printers look set to maintain the brand’s position as the go to promotional product printer, thanks to increased productivity, even higher print quality and some exciting new features.

Since the release of its award-winning UJF series of small format LED UV flatbeds back in 2009, Mimaki has dominated the world of direct to object promotional printing, achieving an install base of several hundred machines in the UK alone.

Last year saw the launch of the UJF-3042 MkII and UJF-6042 MkII, both of which offer enhanced features such as increased productivity and yet again demonstrates Mimaki’s commitment to delivering marketing-leading solutions.

Stuart Cole, national sales manager for industrial products at Mimaki’s UK and Irish distributor, Hybrid Services, said: “2017 is set to be another fantastic year for promotional printing.

“Mimaki has produced two impressive new desktop LED UV flatbed printers that are exceeding industry expectations and will sit very nicely alongside other offerings in the UJF series.

“Mimaki’s high-calibre digital printing technology allows you to print directly onto a whole host of promotional items, quickly and easily. The A3 UJF-3042 MkII and A2 UJF-6042 MkII are set to make printed marketing collateral and bespoke branded products even more lucrative to printing companies.”

Wide appeal

The UJF-6042 MkII was launched in September at Viscom Paris, along with the smaller UJF-3042 MkII, which replaces the UJF-3042HG, with both the new models printing to objects up to 153mm thick. Their compatibility with a range of Mimaki’s versatile UV inksets makes them appealing to several different sectors.

Stuart continues: “LUS-120 inks provide stretchability up to 170% and are great for printing onto soft material surfaces like smart phone wallet cases which require folding. LUS-150 inks are ideal for trophies and other acrylic items because they give excellent adhesion and the LH-100 rigid inks withstand high levels of abrasion making them perfect for accessories or stationery products. When used with Mimaki’s PR-200 inkjet primer, LH-100 inks are the perfect match for substrates that have been traditionally difficult for UV-curable inks, such as glass and metal. Finally, a variety of special effects can be achieved with Mimaki Clear Control (MCC) varnish ink, such as embossing or gloss finish.”

A number of benefits

In addition to the broad UV ink types compatible with the MkII printers, there are a number of benefits such as increased productivity with print speeds up to 20% faster than the previous models. Printer vibration is reduced with the enhanced mechanical functionality of a print bed that moves during printing, which in turn brings about more precise dot placement and improved print quality.

The new Mimaki UJF MkII printers strengthen the existing UJF series, as Stuart concludes: “We’ve got the full set now, thanks to the release of the MkII models. They sit alongside the tried and tested entry level Mimaki UJF-3042FX, which has a keen price point of £16,995, and also join the illustrious UJF-7151plus which gives on-demand printing of the very highest quality at industrial production levels. The UJF series is a definite ‘one-to-watch’ for 2017.”

Customers can arrange a demonstration of the new UJF-3042/6042 MkII, or any of Mimaki’s other products at Hybrid’s showroom. Additionally, an extensive selection of Mimaki products is available to view across the UK and Ireland through Hybrid’s specialist reseller network.
