This year marks Roland DG’s official return to the textile market, with the launch of the Texart RT-640, but what else does 2015 have in store?

The official launch of the Texart RT-640 heralds an exciting new milestone in the evolution of the world’s leading wide format manufacturer. The Texart RT-640 has been developed specifically for dye sublimation printing, delivering outstanding quality and vivid colours, and like all Roland machines, designed and developed with ultimate flexibility in mind, enabling the user to produce the widest range of profitable and added-value applications. In fact, visitors to this year’s Printwear & Promotion LIVE! at the NEC in Birmingham in February will be able to see first-hand the machine in action, where it will be busy all show producing everything from soft signage to interior décor as well as an extensive range of apparel and fashion items and other original goods.

High production performance and stability are at the heart of this outstanding new machine, with the RT-640 offering a production quality print speed of 22sq m/h and a maximum speed of 32.6sq m/h. With a choice of dual CMYK or eight-colour configuration which includes orange and violet inks, the new Texart ink has an extremely wide colour gamut, offering bold and vibrant printing with high contrast, subtle gradations and remarkably fine detail. The addition of a new strong black ink also provides the depth and density needed to produce accurate and rich products.

To ensure outstanding print quality at faster speeds, the RT-640 in four colour mode features a dual CMYK mirrored print head (MYCKKCYM) that virtually eliminates chromatic banding during bi-directional printing. This allows the printer to deliver rich, vibrant and consistent colours, even in the fastest print mode. The Texart RT-640 is also equipped with Roland’s latest print head, providing the highest quality output with variable dot control technology, producing droplets of seven different sizes for precise, detailed graphics. The result is the highest quality textile printing with vibrant colours, smooth gradations and superb contrast.

A newly designed media feed adjuster at the front and rear of the machine provides even tensioning and prevents media skewing. The results are a precisely wound roll on the take-up reel to deliver consistent feed tension when the media is passed through a calendar press.  In four-colour configuration, the RT-640 also uses Roland’s proprietary ink switching system, to automatically switch to the other ink pouch for unattended continuous printing. The new Roland Ink System ensures stable printing with one litre airtight sealed pouches and in dual CMYK mode, provides two litres per colour. And, for even greater efficiency, the user can replace an empty pouch without stopping the printer in both ink configurations.

Roland Intelligent Pass Control combines printer and software advancements that control dot placement between passes, ensuring smooth gradations, flawless solid colours and faster throughput with virtually no banding. That translates into increased productivity and exceptional image quality, even at higher print speeds.

Finally, users are also able to choose from two professional, high-performance RIPs to suit the needs of their business – ErgoSoft Roland Edition, which boasts a full range of features and comes with a well-deserved reputation for quality right across the textile sector, or Roland VersaWorks, which provides users with a simple interface and extremely intuitive operation. All new Texart machines come with a one year RolandCare Silver warranty and Roland OnSupport remote production tracking support package, which includes ink usage alerts, firmware updates and important product information.
