SanMar to acquire BELLA+CANVAS

One of the biggest deals the promotional apparel industry has seen in recent years is set to reshape the blank garments market, with SanMar agreeing to acquire premium apparel brand BELLA+CANVAS.

The move brings together two of the sector’s most recognisable names. However, both companies have been quick to reassure customers that BELLA+CANVAS will retain the identity that helped make it a favourite among decorators, printers and distributors.

BELLA+CANVAS will continue to operate as an independent brand, with executive vice president Megan Spire remaining in charge and products continuing to be sold through existing wholesale channels.

Jeremy Lott, president and CEO of SanMar, said: “Our commitment is simple: Give BELLA+CANVAS the focused ownership and resources it needs to keep doing what it does best and to deliver even more of what the market expects from this exceptional brand.”

Founded in Los Angeles in 1992, BELLA+CANVAS has carved out a distinctive position within the printwear market thanks to its retail-inspired styling, premium fabrics and sustainability credentials.

Addressing decorators and partners directly, Megan Spire added: “BELLA+CANVAS has always operated with a simple conviction: The people who print, decorate, and sell our products deserve the best blank apparel in the world.

“That belief is not changing. With focused ownership and additional investment behind the brand, we will be able to bring more newness, more innovation, and an even stronger commitment to the partners who make BELLA+CANVAS what it is while staying true to who we’ve always been. I have never been more excited to lead this brand.”

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
